The Life and Times of Millar Buzzard
by Phil Buzzard

A Summary of His Life

Australia was made up of several Colonies before Federation in 1901. Each colony was governed separately from each other and acted autonomously.

When Millar was born in the Colony of Victoria in 1886, Britain was the “mother” country and there were very strong links between the colonies and the United Kingdom. His early education was in Australia but belonging to a wealthy family, after the death of his father and the re-marriage of his mother, in England, he also spent a short time at a school in England.

When his family returned to Australia, he finished his education in Victoria and then went to work in the “outback” of Western Australia, married and enlisted to fight in the Australian Imperial Forces (1st A.I.F.) in the First World War. Although wounded in Belgium, he fortunately returned to his family and starting farming at Moora in Western Australia. Tragically, he died shortly after he took possession of the farm.

The wealth of information I gathered is now presented in these webpages so he can take his place alongside the notable and not so notable founders of this country. To these pioneers of Australia, we are truly indebted.
